🎉 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝟯𝟲! A super belated birthday post as I've been busy the past few weeks! Unlike most birthdays, where I usually visit someplace new, this year was very uneventful in comparison as I spent it at home. But it was still a special one since it marked the end of one life chapter and the beginning of another!🚚 After a birthday lunch with these beautiful (and windy!) views of San Francisco, I spent most of the day packing up my apartment and ruthlessly deciding whether items still sparked joy. I decluttered as much as I could to move as little as possible to the new home. Swipe through to see the moving progress!🚧 The new place is still under renovation so living amidst the construction is definitely an interesting experience... "Roughing" it the next few weeks but happy with the progress so far and can't wait till it's all completed!👋 So for this year's birthday, I said goodbye to my apartment of 7 years and hello to a new home with @allinonemighty. Now the real fun begins with unpacking and buying furniture together!📦 Note the last two videos are after @allinonemighty moved his stuff in. I'm clearly going to need to help him declutter 😜
🎉 YAY! I got my vaccine shot today! Obligatory post-vaccine selfie at the sticker wall to commemorate this day in history 😆🤞 Man, vaccine FOMO was starting to kick in... But I was lucky to see some appointments open when I checked a few days ago. So I was able to book a spot at the Moscone Center in San Francisco for today before they were all gone in a matter of minutes.💉 I had no choice and didn't know which vaccine I was going to get. I got the J&J one since that's what was being offered. I'm glad to get the one shot and be done. Also supposedly, there are fewer side effects. So far so good - just a sore arm 💪👍 I'm impressed by how well run the entire system was. There were volunteers telling you where to go every step of the way. After checking in, I got sticker for Janssen. I only waited 30 min. The shot was quick and painless. Then I had to wait 15 min to see if I had any immediate reactions.😃 After that, I was free to go. Before leaving, everyone was invited to post their stickers on the wall - one for the brand of the vaccine shot they received and one for the 15 min wait time reminder of when you could leave.🙏 I feel so relieved and happy to have gotten my shot. In two weeks, I'll be fully vaccinated. Cheers to doing things again! 🙌✈️ Time to go book a flight now... 😁
🏞️ 2020 is the year of US National Parks! Since there will be no more international trips for the rest of the year and most likely 2021, it's all about exploring the great outdoors in the US.🚙 When I was a kid, my parents would pack us up and take us on road trips all around the US to visit the National Parks. As immigrants, they wanted to experience what the new home country had to offer.🏕️ Even though we never actually went camping (my first camping experience was during college with schoolmates), I was always amazed by the beauty that nature had to offer. The US is a huge, diverse country.😍 Needless to say, my love for travel and experiencing new things started at a young age.🤔 So I'm out here making the most of what's left in the year. Corona-what now? A girl's gotta what she's gotta do to stay sane and find ways to satisfy my travelholic wanderlust.🤩 Joshua Tree @joshuatreenps was just the first of many national parks this year. Off to Yellowstone and Grand Teton next! I have ideas for a few more before the year is over so there's still time for some vacation and fun! Life is short and we've got to make the most of it!

💼 I miss work travel! It was always an excuse for me to tack on a few extra days to play tourist in the city after my business meetings were over.🧳Before COVID, I traveled for work at least once every 2-3 months. Work and conferences brought me to Amsterdam, NYC, New Orleans, Austin, Vegas, Miami, Denver, Seattle, and LA over the last few years.✈️ Sure, traveling on business trips can be exhausting especially if you're on the road multiple times a month. But working in sales, building relationships are a huge part of my job.🧑‍💻 In-person meetings play a big role in getting things done. Zoom calls just don't cut it. Getting to know new clients over VC is just not quite the same. I miss that face-to-face interaction.💻 I have been finding it quite challenging to be as successful as I used to be. I'm still struggling to find ways around this. But we must adapt and adjust since it doesn't look like I'll be doing any business travel for awhile.🤔 Who else can relate? Any advice?
🌈 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆! The appropriately named 100 foot tall 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘄 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 at Devils Postpile National Monument allows a rainbow to sparkle in the mist when the sun is overhead on a clear day.🏞️ The volcanic rock cliff here consists of two layers due to lava cooling at different rates. As the river plunges over the cliff, it wears away at the softer bottom layer. The water creates an opening that gets bigger over time as the rock erodes away. Until eventually, the top rock layer loses its supporting bottom layer and caves in.💧 Waterfalls are so beautiful to look at that sometimes you forget how powerful water can be over time. A reminder that persistence pays off and can lead to great things!

Reach for the sky!🙌 Whether it's work-related, a personal goal, or achieving just some sort of "normalcy" during COVID - we've all got to psych ourselves up and be our own hype man.💪 I've got two big difficult projects at work over the next two weeks that I've been dreading since I'm feeling overwhelmed. Hence this pump up because I've got to tell myself I can do it! You can do it! We can do it!👋 Who else feeling down and in need of a cheerleader?💪 There will always be mountains or obstacles in the way. Keep striving and once you get to the top, the view will make it easy to see your goal within reach. Never give up!
😮 Is this Iceland, Ireland or California?? Who knew these giant geological formations were right in my own backyard?! Welcome to the Devils Postpile National Monument!🌋 About 82,000 years ago, basalt lava from an unknown source flowed into the Eastern Sierras of California. As the lava cooled at the same rate, it contracted, cracked, and split evenly into symmetrical, vertical, hexagonal basalt columns.🤯 Hexagons are nature's perfect shape because they’re the most efficient way to fill an area with equal size units and leave no wasted space. Think bee honeycombs 🐝 or turtle shells! 🐢🏔️ About 12,000 to 20,000 years ago, a glacier carved away part of the postpile, leaving behind this 60 foot high wall of columns. Over the years, erosion and earthquakes have caused many of the columns to fall and now lie broken at the base in a talus pile.🤔 Nature is so amazing to see at work. I couldn't decide which angle of Devils Postpile was my favorite.➡️ So swipe through to see them all. I like 1 for the drama while 2 highlights the basalt columns at a cool angle and 3 makes the rocks look like a giant left behind their building block toys all over the place. So it should be no surprise that I am a very curious person. Learning new things is what drives me and makes me get up every day.🤓 That's why I love to travel! Travel has allowed me to learn so much not only about the world and other cultures but also about myself too. I want to help and inspire others to learn more about the world too by sharing all the wondrous things I've discovered.💻 So I started my travel blog aliceinwandererland.com two years ago as a passion project while I was on a gap year between jobs. I am currently based in San Francisco and work a regular 9-5 job in sales at a startup.🧳 I started traveling as young kid to visit relatives in Taiwan. But aside from that plus family road trips within the US and Canada, I had not visited any other country in the world until I started working after college.🤩 Through work over the last 10+ years, I have been lucky to also call New York, Hong Kong, London, and Singapore home. This has allowed me to visit 6 continents, 51 countries, and 37 US states so far and still counting!🌲 Lately, due to the pandemic, in order to satisfy my wanderlust, I've been exploring a lot more locally in California and getting outdoors after being cooped up at home.
